What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a perfectly normal state; it is the same state that we go into at least twice a day, that is just before we drift off into sleep and again immediately after we wake up. You know the feeling; relaxed so our muscles don't want to work, our eyes just close by themselves and we feel wonderfully peaceful and drowsy. It is in this state that our subconscious mind becomes responsive, is able to shed light on the basic cause of problems and it is open to suggestions for change. It is important to note that when in hypnosis you are in a state between asleep and awake, in control and aware of what is happening.

When we want to change how we feel and how we act it is usually of no value to use our logical analytical mind. You may well have analysed and rationalised a problem in your logical thinking mind many times to no effect. This is because how we feel comes from feelings in our emotional subconscious mind. When in hypnosis, work can be done at an emotional level directly with our subconscious mind.

How Hypnotherapy Works?

Hypnosis is a totally natural state of mind. When under hypnosis you will feel very relaxed and comfortable, time passes very quickly and your subconscious mind becomes very receptive to new suggestions and ideas.

At Serenity Wellness Spa I use a relaxation technique to induce hypnosis in order to access the subconscious mind and re-program unwanted patterns of behaviour.

Our subconscious mind is like a large file-storage facility; it stores all our automatic responses such as breathing, blood circulation and tissue repair, as well as our learned responses such as walking, holding a pencil, riding a bike or driving a car.

It follows then that our subconscious mind also stores our less resourceful and sometimes problematic learned responses or behavioral habits, which might include overeating, smoking, fears and phobias, anxiety or sleep disorders. So in order to modify some of these behaviours, we must first access the subconscious mind and then re-program it with more desired patterns of behaviour.

Hypnotherapy is a safe and enjoyable process that can change lives in the most positive and exciting of ways.
